Connecticut became the fifth US state in 1788. The region was firstly explored by the Danish navigators in the 17th century, followed by the English settlers two decades later.
The area that now forms the Connecticut state used to be inhabited by several Native American tribes including the Paugusetts, Mohegans, and Pequots.
Connecticut offers countless touristic attractions to worldwide visitors who come here for the beautiful landscape and the harbors situated in the estuary region, Long Island Sound. The major cities in this state are the capital Hartford and Bridgeport, the city with the largest population. Along with New York and New Jersey, Connecticut forms what is known as the Tristate Area. Connecticut is a state located in the northeastern part of the United States.
